More than just a language school
Mor e than just a language school
A candid interview with Stephen King, Director of Studies at Chichester
English Language School about what makes the school a cut above the rest.
Q: Chichester has been an EL Gazette
Centre of Excellence two years running.
What keeps you on top?
The Gazette’s rankings are based on British
Council inspection results, which remain
consistent between inspections.
In April 2023, we improved from 10 to 13
out of 15 Areas of Strength, placing us in the
top 5% of UK language schools. While some
schools opted for compliance-only inspections
post-COVID to retain their grades, we chose
a full inspection to reflect the progress we’d
made since 2018.
This success didn’t happen overnight.
We focused on evidence-based improvements,
adopted the best practices suggested in
the Council’s guidance documents, and
benchmarked ourselves against the top-
scoring institutions. This consistent focus
on improvement has brought us to where
we are today.
Our approach is simple: we remain
grounded and motivated to improve daily.
