An intermediate class teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) will be run virtually, and at no cost to participants, by Boca Helping Hands (BHH).
Based in Boca Raton, Florida, BHH is a non-profit organisation offering help within its community to those who need financial support, food, medical assistance and a hot meal six days a week. Since 2014, 500 people have benefitted from its ESOL initiatives.
The latest class will run on Thursdays for six weeks from 20 May, from 6.30-8.30pm, and will be taught by volunteer Victoria Navarrete, whose day job is creating ESOL programmes for middle- and high-school students to access online.
Along with the class, BHH has launched its Conversation Cafe, which aims to build fluency in English through chatting with others. It’s currently run over Zoom from 5.15-6.15pm on Tuesdays and 2-4pm on Fridays.
BHH is looking for more teachers with ESOL experience who are happy to teach online, to volunteer on its ESOL programmes. For more information about this volunteer opportunity, please email trina@bocahelpinghands.org
