Four more UKVI-approved test centres to open in UK

This month (April 2021), Pearson will open four more UK test centres where their Secure English Language Tests (SELTs), approved by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI), can be taken.

There are two approved Pearson Tests of English: PTE Academic UKVI, which is accepted for work and study visas; and PTE Home, which can be used for visas for sportspeople and representatives of an overseas business, as well as by applicants for the family settlement and British citizenship programmes.

The new centres will open in Leicester, Luton, Newcastle and Oxford, bringing Pearson’s UKVI-approved test centres to a total of 22 in the UK.

“We are always looking to expand our test centre network,” says Freya Thomas Monk, senior vice-president of English assessment at Pearson. “Our aim is to give candidates a wide choice of where they take their PTE exam.

“We have chosen Luton, Leicester, Oxford and Newcastle to meet demand and be convenient for our customers, and we are pleased to widen the opportunity to sit an English language test for UK visa purposes.”

Covid precautions at the centres will include wearing face masks, hand sanitiser availability, social distancing and disinfection of work stations between test takers.
