English gets a boost in Mongolia

The National University of Mongolia (NUM)’s Center of Excellence for English Language Teaching and Learning is is now open, marking a significant step in enhancing English language education in the country.

The centre’s launch commenced with an academic writing course designed specifically for English language teachers. Arrangements are being made to expand training provisions, including upcoming seminars delivered by Peace Corps volunteers and experts from predominantly English-speaking countries.

The establishment of the centre follows the US Mongolia Excellence in English Initiative, a project arising from discussions between Mongolian Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh and former US Secretary of State Antony John Blinken in August 2024.

“This initiative aims to bolster English language proficiency and teaching standards across Mongolia”, reports MONTSAME National News Agency.
