Bank on learning English

Banco Santander is offering a thousand Santander Languages Scholarships for English through the University of Pennsylvania. The intention is that these will help non-native speakers from 13 countries – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Germany, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the UK, USA and Uruguay – who are over 18 to polish up their English in order to help them further their job prospects and careers.

The scholarships focus on technical English and are taught in five-week modules online, so they’re available to students anywhere in the world. The three courses students can choose from are English for Career Development; English for Business and Entrepreneurship; and English for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The courses are taught through the highly regarded University of Pennsylvania and begin in January 2022. The application process is open now and closes 23 November. Those interested in applying should visit becas-santander.com

“Languages, especially English, are a basic requirement to get a job and develop a career in an environment that is quickly becoming more digital and more international,” says Javier Roglá, global head of Santander Universities. “In these times of transformation, we believe having better professional English is key to, for instance, achieving better outcomes in the hiring process, which is something the University of Pennsylvania has a great deal of experience with.”
