A new partnership

NILE, the specialist teacher development institute, and Lacunza, a language school that’s a Cambridge Centre of Excellence in Gipuzkoa, in the Basque region of Spain, have joined forces to provide teacher education programmes.

The aim of the partnership is to improve the quality of language teaching, particularly as it relates to Basque teachers who face the challenges of trilingualism and digitisation. Lacunza will be working with NILE to deliver courses on teaching pre-primary children, syllabus design, material development, testing and assessment, CLIL, trainer development, teaching subjects in English in higher education and many more. The courses will be offered in Lacunza venues across the Basque region, teachers’ own institutions, NILE centres in the UK and through NILE’s award-winning online platform.

“Everyone at Lacunza is very excited to be able to bring these innovative courses to the local teaching community,” says Lacunza CEO Javier Lacunza. “Its a great opportunity to blend our understanding of the local context with NILEs international development experience, and so help local teachers grow and build their careers so they can multiply their studentspossibilities.”

Partnerships are in our DNA,” says NILE’s director, Thom Kiddle, “so it is wonderful for NILE to be working with such a prestigious partner as Lacunza, bringing together our strengths to give teachers a truly unique opportunity.”
