‘Highly regarded language school’ acquired by English Path

Ireland-based English language school, NCG Dublin, has been acquired by ELT network, English Path. In an announcement yesterday, English path have the said the acquisition marks “another significant step towards expanding its language learning initiatives.”

English Path – part of Global Education Group (GEDU) – have schools in five cities across the UK, as well as Malta, Canada and the UAE. Talking about the merger, Managing Director, Mike Summerfield, has said: “We see Dublin as one of the main destinations for students and believe we can build on the success of NCG Education Dublin in the coming years.”

Based just outside the city centre, NCG Dublin opened its doors in the 1970s as Dublin Language Centre. The school has stayed in the coastal suburb of Dún Laoghaire for over 50 years. Former owner, Sadiq Basha, has said:

"We took over the school six years ago, and saw strong growth pre-COVID … student numbers are the highest they have ever been. I believe the acquisition by GBS English Path will provide great impetus for the school to continue to grow and I look forward to seeing where they will take the school in the future."

Dublin is the only NCG school involved in the merger; other schools in Manchester and Liverpool have not been acquired by English Path.
