Poland’s anti-war game in English

Unlike standard war-based video games, This War of Mine isn’t from a soldier’s perspective, but from the civilians’. Players have to make difficult choices to help their characters survive and there are a variety of possible outcomes for these characters depending on what decisions the player makes.

As reported by GamesRadar.com, this anti-war game was developed and published by 11 Bit Studios, a Polish video game company, and it’s now being made available for free from the Polish government’s website, along with lesson plans and teaching material, created in conjunction with 11 Bit Studios, for using the game in educational settings. A proviso is that the game is intended only for those aged 18+ and, though it’s in English, it is the Polish version of the game. It’s recommended that the game is taught alongside This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen, a short-story collection written by Auschwitz survivor Tadeusz Borowski.
