Support for those who volunteer

MOOC stands for massive open online course and Cambridge University Press & Assessment has recently relaunched its award-winning free version designed to train volunteers and language teachers who work with refugees.

Called Volunteering with Refugees, it launched on 30 May and will run for three weeks. It focuses on the skills needed to volunteer in refugee communities, such as the social and linguistic needs of such groups, as well as imparting an understanding of the various backgrounds and ongoing scenarios facing refugees. These include strategies and methods for providing language support in and out of classroom settings.

The course is the latest in a raft of support measures from Cambridge, including a recent series of webinars to support English teachers helping those affected by the current crisis in Ukraine.
