Pearson expands into online learning

Leading learning company Pearson is widening its educational offering by its recent acquisition of Mondly, an online learning platform. It’s a big deal, as Mondly is in the top five language-learning apps as rated by Statista, based on the number of worldwide downloads. Taking on Mondly means Pearson can now deliver English-learning opportunities in just about every way there is, from textbooks through to mobile apps.

Mondly provides English-language learning via its app, website, VR and AR and has a children’s version, MondlyKIDS, as well.

“[This] acquisition marks another step in our digital strategy,” says Pearson’s chief executive, Andy Bird, “giving us an exciting foothold in the fast-growing direct-to-consumer English learning market and building yet more connectivity across the entire Pearson portfolio.”
