Singing English

The Boston Public Library in Copley Square is supporting English learners in a musical way. At 10.30am on Tuesdays, the English as a Second Language (ESL) Chorus meets for an hour with Associate Conductor & Director of Community Engagement, Katherine Chan, to learn basic singing skills and songs in English. Attendance is free, though participants must register first.

After each session there’s an opportunity to chat with others and practice conversational English. The classes are run by Back Bay Chorale, which emphasises that no musical or previous singing skills are required. The ESL Chorus even performs occasionally, as it will this evening, 6 May, at Harvard University.
