Language apps aiding Ukraine

Language learning app developer Ling has made its program free for six months to Ukrainians learning another language and those who want to learn Ukrainian. Meanwhile, Duolingo is donating all the ad revenue it receives from people studying Ukrainian with the app to agencies supporting Ukraine, including the United Nations Refugee Agency. It’s also making its paid-for membership, Duolingo Plus, free to refugees from Ukraine and hosts to who take them in. Finally, the popular language learning app is waiving its fee for English proficiency tests for Ukrainian students applying to universities. And, while Duolingo remains free in Russia and Belarus, it has disabled its monetisation in those countries so that it doesn’t have to pay tax to them.
