Nigel Paramor has been involved in ELT for over 35 years. He taught in Hong Kong for four years and has since worked in the private sector in the UK, in FE, for many years, and also a spell teaching in HE. Since 2007 he’s been the principal of English in Chester, now part of the ELC charity. He’s also a board member of English UK.
Nigel played drums in bands for over 30 years, but started writing and playing his own songs about three years ago. During the first lockdown he decided to try to learn how to record some of them. What started out as a distraction from the disaster of the pandemic became something more and he released his first album on 23 December 2020. It’s called Big Sky: Songs from a lockdown year under the name Mister Wulf.
Nigel is chair of his local foodbank and when we went back into lockdown in January 2021, he released a single called ‘Catastrophe’ to raise money for it. It ended up raising over £1,000 and was played on BBC national radio.
Now Nigel has released his second album, Love, loss and hope. All proceeds from sales and downloads before 25 December are going to the foodbank and at last count its raised just over £300.
