BC to accredit online ELT

The British Council has extended its accreditation scheme for UK language centres to include live online courses.

Accredited language centres will have to submit a self- evaluation and a separate risk assessment for safeguarding under-18s where appropriate. Inspection of the online provision will be undertaken, “when circumstances permit”.

The move, “has been driven by our strong desire to continue to support accredited language centres and promote learning in the home of the English language,” a spokesperson for the British Council told the Gazette.
